We at the Motion Picture Association, Inc. (“MPA”) respect your concerns about privacy and this website (“Site”).  This Privacy Policy describes the types of personal information we collect about individuals via the Site, how we use the information, with whom we may share it and the choices available to you regarding our use of the information. We also describe the measures we take to protect the security of the information and how you can contact us about our privacy practices.

This Privacy Policy applies to the practices of the MPA with respect to its processing of personal information via this Site only.

This Privacy Policy does not apply to MPA’s general practices with respect to its processing of personal information or to websites or mobile apps operated by the MPA that have separate privacy policies or notices that do not reference this Privacy Policy; MPA’s Privacy Policy applicable to such practices (including but not limited to such practices with respect to individuals located in the European Economic Area) may be found here

We may obtain information about you in various ways through your usage of the Site.

The types of information we collect include personal information in content you provide to us, such as through emails you send us.

We may also use third-party web analytics services on the Site, such as those of Google Analytics. These service providers help us analyze how visitors use the Site. The information obtained for this purpose (including your IP address and other information collected by automated means) will be disclosed to or collected directly by these service providers. We do not disclose personal information we obtain about you, except as described in this Privacy Policy. We may share personal information with service providers who perform services on our behalf based on our instructions. We do not authorize these service providers to use or disclose the information except as necessary to perform services on our behalf or comply with legal requirements. Examples of these service providers include web hosting providers, email list management providers, registrars, registries, online platforms, office services providers, accountants and law firms.

We also may disclose information about you (i) if we are required to do so by law or legal process, (ii) to law enforcement authorities or other government entities based on a lawful disclosure request, or (iii) when we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to prevent harm or financial loss, or in connection with an investigation of suspected or actual fraudulent or illegal activity. We reserve the right to transfer personal information we have about you in the event we sell or transfer all or a portion of our business or assets.




We offer you certain choices in connection with the personal information we collect from you. To update your preferences, ask us to remove your information from our mailing lists or submit a request, please contact us as indicated in the “How To Contact Us” section of this Privacy Policy. To the extent provided by applicable law, you may request access to the personal information we maintain about you or request that we correct, amend, delete or block the information by contacting us as indicated below. Where provided by applicable law, you may withdraw any consent you previously provided to us or object to the processing of your personal information, and we will apply your preferences going forward.




We may transfer the personal information we collect about you to recipients in countries other than the country in which the information originally was collected. Those countries may not have the same data protection laws as the country in which you initially provided the information. When we transfer your information to recipients in other countries, we will protect that information as described in this Privacy Policy and will comply with applicable legal requirements providing adequate protection for the transfer of personal information to recipients in countries other than the one in which you provided the information.

Our Site is not directed to children under the age of sixteen and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of sixteen on our Site.

California Consumer Privacy Statement


Effective: January 1, 2023

This California Consumer Privacy Statement supplements the Privacy Policy and applies solely to California consumers.  This Statement does not apply to MPA personnel or job applicants.

This California Consumer Privacy Statement uses certain terms that have the meanings given to them in the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018, the California Privacy Rights Act of 2020, and/or its implementing regulations (together, the “CCPA”).

  1. Notice of Collection and Use of Personal Information

With regard to the Site, we may collect the following categories of personal information about you:

  • Identifiers: identifiers such as a real name, alias, postal address, unique personal identifier (such as a device identifier; cookies and similar technology; internet protocol address, email address, and other similar identifiers).
  • Online Activity: information regarding your interaction with our Site, and potentially other websites, applications or advertisements.

We may use the categories of personal information listed above for the purposes described in our Privacy Policy.  In addition, we may use these categories of personal information for certain business purposes specified in the CCPA, as described in this table:

  1. Our Prior Collection, Use and Disclosure of Personal Information

  1. California Consumer Privacy Rights

You have certain choices regarding your personal information, as described below.

Access: You have the right to request, twice in a 12-month period, that we disclose to you the personal information we have collected, used, disclosed and sold about you during the past 12 months.

Deletion: You have the right to request that we delete certain personal information we have collected from you.

Verifying Requests. To help protect your privacy and maintain security, we will take steps to verify your identity before granting you access to your personal information or complying with your request.  We may require you to provide your name, email address, and two or more of the following:  mailing address, telephone number, online identifier, internet protocol address, or other similar identifiers.  In addition, if you ask us to provide you with specific pieces of personal information, we will require you to sign a declaration under penalty of perjury that you are the consumer whose personal information is the subject of the request.  If you designate an authorized agent to make an access or deletion request on your behalf, we may require you to provide the authorized agent written permission to do so, and to verify your own identity directly with us (as described above).

Additional Information. If you choose to exercise any of your rights under the CCPA, you have the right to not receive discriminatory treatment by us.  To the extent permitted by applicable law, we may charge a reasonable fee to comply with your request.
